Hank Williams, Jr.
Lonestar Ranch, Reeds ferry, New Hampshire, 1973
Son of the most famous country singers ever, Hank
Jr. went into the family business early; he was already a seasoned
performer when he first played on the Grand Ole Opry at age thirteen.
A few years later, he recorded the plaintive "Standing in the
Shadow (of a Very Famous Man)," which might well have served
as his tombstone. However, Junior proved to have considerable staying
power as a singer, songwriter, and entertainer. Melding his dad's
honky tonk sound with a scoop of Southern rock, he has had dozens
of hit records and awards of his own, but might be best known for
singing the opening theme for ABC's Monday Night
Football. |
