Blue Sky Boys
Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, 1973

Brother acts have long been popular in country music and Bill and Earl Bolick formed one of the most influential ever. With tight harmony singing, accompanied by a simple guitar and mandolin, the Bolick's sound can be heard clearly in such groups as the classic country act the Louvin Brothers and Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame members the Everly Brothers. The Blue Sky Boys were active from the mid-1930s to mid-1950s, when changing styles caught up with them and they retired from full-time touring and took jobs at the post office. This photograph was taken at one of their occasional reunions.
