Hank Snow
Grand Ole Opry, Nashville, Tennessee, 1973

One of the greatest country stars ever, the "Singing Ranger" had a huge career, which included almost fifty years (1936–84) recording for the same record label, RCA Victor. Snow was born in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, and joined the Grand Ole Opry in 1950. His biggest hits came in the 1950s and 1960s: "I'm Moving On: "The Golden Rocket," and "The Rhumba Boogie." But perhaps his most notable contribution was as a salesman. He helped convince Elvis Presley's parents to allow their boy to sing secular music, allowing Snow's manager at the time, Colonel Tom Parker, to take on Elvis and "invent" rock-and-roll.
