Emmy Lou Harris
Los Angeles, California, 1980
Surviving the folk/rock/country bands of the
early 1970s, Emmy Lou has had a highly successful and influential
career. She first came to prominence for her work with the legendary
Gram Parsons, who blended country music and rock in the Byrds and
the Flying Burrito Brothers. On her own, she has led several bands
over the years, with an emphasis on traditional music. Part of her
success comes from the quality of her collaborations. Her past band
members include Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, and Rodney Crowell, and
she had hits as a trio with Linda Ronstadt and Dolly Parton. Still,
her biggest assets are her beautiful voice, tasteful material, and
simple grace on stage.
